Freestyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor
FreeStyleDescription
Freestyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor is a flash glucose monitoring sensor that measures glucose levels in the fluid under the skin of people aged 2 and over with diabetes, including pregnant women. It is worn on the back of the upper arm for up to 15 days, so a new sensor only needs applying after that time. **Key Features** - **Up to 15 days of wear:** one sensor can be worn for up to 15 days, with a 60-minute warm-up after it is applied. - **Replaces blood glucose testing:** used with a compatible device, the system is designed to replace blood glucose testing in the management of diabetes, including dosing of insulin. - **Indicated from age 2:** it is intended for adults and children aged 2 and over, including pregnant women. For children aged 2 to 12, a carer aged 18 or over must supervise use. - **Applied with a disposable applicator:** the sensor is applied to the back of the upper arm with a single-use applicator, and its small flexible tip sits just under the skin. - **Water resistant:** the sensor has been tested to withstand immersion in 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes (IP27). ### What do I need to use the Freestyle Libre 2 Plus Sensor? The sensor must be used with a compatible device: the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader or the FreeStyle LibreLink app. The app works only with certain mobile devices and operating systems, so check compatibility on Abbott's website before downloading it. Glucose alarms are received only on the device used to start the sensor. ### Do I still need finger-prick blood glucose tests? The system is designed to replace blood glucose testing. However, on rare occasions the sensor can give inaccurate readings. If a reading does not seem correct or does not match how you feel, Abbott advises confirming it with a finger-prick blood glucose test and checking that the sensor has not come loose. ### Can I wear the sensor for an MRI scan? No. The sensor must be removed before a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan.
