Château Léoville Las Cases 2005 - Saint-Julien

Description

2005, a mythical vintage which gave birth to this splendid second Grand Cru Classé Saint Julien and which does not demerit from its predecessors in qualitative terms quite the contrary because it is in itself a very great one. The robe is a very deep ruby with some light purple reflections. On the nose as well as on the palate: very nice touches of small black fruits such as blackcurrant, wild blackberry, black cherry from the Basque country in perfect balance with these same flavors with a very long and silky finish. Elegant tannins mixed with fine points of vanilla wood. This is a great wine at its peak that will last at least another twenty years. The bottles will be kept lying down, protected from light and noise with an optimal hygrometric degree around 70%. It is a wine to be decanted two or three hours before tasting at room temperature to let it express its olfactory and gustatory splendors for a sublime pleasure.
