Description

1st Grand Cru Classé in 1855. The 2010 vintage is a magnificent wine year for Bordeaux. The dry and sunny weather of April and May was particularly favorable for the development of the vine. The summer season was marked by drought and a lot of heat until September. This was followed by an alternation of cool nights and sunny days which allowed the grapes to reach a perfect maturity. Blend of the 2010 vintage : 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot The color is an intense purple, with elegant tints. The nose shows a beautiful olfactory harmony, releasing notes of very ripe black fruits, peppery spices, menthol and clove. We then perceive truffle and toasted wood. The attack in mouth is supple and meticulous, to reveal a dense, juicy and fleshy body. It evolves on jammy black fruits, black currant cream and exotic spices, wrapped in an elegant tannic structure. The finish is endless, racy and of great freshness. Food and wine pairing: Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2010 will pair wonderfully with a tournedos of beef Rossini, a Chateaubriand with foie gras and porcini mushroom sauce, a truffled veal mignon cooked with string, but also a rack of lamb confit au four. For a pairing with cheese, choose uncooked pressed cheeses such as morbier with truffles, Saint-Nectaire, cantal and matured mimolette. Finish it off with a delicious chocolate dessert: a praline and hazelnut entremet, a black forest, or Guillaume Mabilleau's Extra Hazelnut Tart. Ageing potential and tasting: Château Lafite Rothschild 2010 is a great wine for aging by definition, which can wait another 10 years in the cellar. Its peak will be reached between 2032 and 2037. It can nevertheless be enjoyed now, by placing the bottle in the room at room temperature the night before. Open it and decant it 6 to 7 hours before tasting. The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from the light, lying down, with an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
