This cuvée Rare, only produced during exceptional vintages, is certainly part of one of the finest vintage collections initiated in 1904. Each bottle, preserved since its origin in the house's historic cellars, is treated as a "special order", with disgorgement carried out to order, thus ensuring optimal freshness and quality. A Champagne work of art, it is blended from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from prestigious Grand Cru terroirs such as Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, Verzenay, Bouzy and Aÿ. The year 1989 was characterized by a cool spring and a hot summer, leading to an early harvest in September and a Seconde harvest in October, offering grapes of incomparable quality. Visually, this cuvée is distinguished by an old gold color with copper highlights. Its gourmet bouquet reveals intense aromas of candied fruit and hints of humus. On the palate, the attack is fleshy, the texture ample and velvety, and the finish, finely chalky, persistent.
