Odyssée 319 - Jour 3 : Meunier à Belval-sous-Châtillon - Champagne Blanc de Noirs
Odyssée 319Description
For its first 100% meunier cuvée, Olivier Bonville and son-in-law Ferdinand Ruelle met with David Faivre, based in Belval sous Châtillon. This winemaker, passionate about his terroir and in conversion to organic farming, impresses with the fruity intensity and character of Belval wines. So, Odyssée 319 will pass through Belval and David Faivre's Pinots Meuniers, 2020 vintage. A single grape variety from a clay-limestone parcel, this wine is relatively young, but meunier needs less time to reach its peak. A very fine Champagne, greedy but remaining crisp and fresh, deploying notes of pear, hazelnut, lime, a minerality that stands out from the flinty aromas and a noble vegetal bitterness on the finish. An ephemeral cuvee, this edition is limited to 3800 bottles. Less vinous than its pinot noir cousin, this 100% Pinot Meunier pairs perfectly with a fish terrine with vegetables or simply enjoy as an aperitif.
