Description

5th Classified Growth in 1855 2015 is undoubtedly a very good vintage in Bordeaux. After the flowering of the vine in May, the summer was dry and sunny. The months of August and September saw some rain that was beneficial to the vines, hydrating them and re-launching the ripening process. The harvest at Grand-Puy-Lacoste went smoothly, with each parcel harvested at its optimum maturity. Blend of the 2015 vintage: 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc. The robe is a deep and intense red, with beautiful garnet reflections. The nose offers a sumptuous and expressive bouquet, with notes of black cherry, black currant and blackberry, followed by a floral touch of violet and sweet spices. On the palate, the attack is dense and precise, revealing red fruit and spice flavors wrapped in a dense body. It rises crescendo in aromatic power supported by very coated and ripe tannins. It concludes with a long persistent and finely peppered finish. Food and wine pairing: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 will accompany a suckling lamb from Pauillac, a fillet of beef in a Madeira crust, a roasted veal knuckle from Corrèze with Bresse butter, marcassin civet confit with peppers or all types of small game birds. For a match with cheese, choose uncooked pressed cheeses: Edam, Gouda, Saint-nectaire, morbier, Tomme de Savoie or Salers. For dessert, it will be very appreciated with a pistachio and chocolate dessert, a chocolate speculum Bavarois or a tiramisu. Ageing potential and tasting: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 is a great Pauillac wine built for long aging. Its peak will be reached between 2030 and 2035. However, it lends itself perfectly to tasting today if properly prepared. To do so, take care to place the bottle the night before in the serving room at room temperature. Open it and decant it ideally 5 to 6 hours before tasting. The bottles should be kept in the cellar, protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.
