Description

Comtes de Champagne Grands Crus Blanc de blancs 2013 de Taittinger is a cuvée that embodies the quintessence of Chardonnay. The only grape variety in this exceptional Champagne, it comes exclusively from the Côte des blancs and in particular the Grands Crus Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. Harvested late in October after an exceptional summer, this 2013 vintage reveals the strength and vigor of the grapes. As is customary for all wines produced by Taittinger, every aspect of the vinification of this Champagne reflects meticulous attention to quality: 5% of the wine is aged in new oak barrels for four months, making a subtle contribution to the complexity of the final blend. As for the maturation period, the house has chosen to let time do its work for ten years, allowing this singular vintage to develop exceptional maturity and intensity, while preserving the brilliance and freshness characteristic of Chardonnay. To the eye, Comtes de Champagne Blanc de blancs 2013 boasts a bright, luminous color with golden highlights and a fine, delicate effervescence. The bouquet is a symphony of freshness, with ripe citrus and pastry notes intermingling, evolving into more complex, refined aromas of ginger and licorice on the finish. This complexity is underscored by a crystalline texture on the palate, where the liveliness of the bubbles carries a salty, austere minerality that testifies to the grandeur of the terroir. With its remarkable structure and palpable density, this cuvée promises impressive ageing potential. It goes perfectly with delicate dishes such as seafood, fine shellfish or fish, and is best served at a temperature of 11°C, to reveal all its subtlety and brilliance.
